Calli B didn’t start out thinking that he was going to be a DJ. Infact, it wasn’t until his internship at Irie Jam radio that he knew he wanted to remain in the music scene. He eventually began playingschool and birthday parties when he was at Pace University. This ledto spinning at the clubs in New York City.
In 2003, Calli B started an internship at Irie Jam radio, a prominentstation focusing on reggae and Caribbean artists. Here he learned allhe ever wanted to know about being a dj and producing. During thisinternship, Calli B was responsible for editing songs and remixes,which would help him to become an even better dj.
For the past two years, Calli B has been the host of a radio showalong side famous DJ Jabba from Massive B Hot 97 & Marcus Wanted from the Platinum Kids, which can be heard on Friday’s from 8-10 pm on IRIE JAM RADIO 93.5 FM. Calli B is known as the “Young International”, a nickname that came after his massive European tour with reggae artist Da’Ville. Callingthe experience one of the best of his life, DJ Calli B has another big tour planned for 2010 with performances in Amsterdam and Japan.
Calli B has been a dj for big names like Serani and many other Jamaican radio artists. While not only limited to the Reggae/Caribbean Scene, DJ Calli B has worked with many hip hop artists such as Ray J and Lloyd Banks.
Calli B, along with being a dj and radio host has established his own record label titled “Cool Ras Music”. While he wants to continue beinga dj and working in the clubs, being a producer and building his labelis of the utmost importance to him.
Along with playing the piano in his spare time, Calli B has his ownunique style, combining hip hop, techno and freestyle in the clubscene.
